WHAT IS NEUROLOGICAL PHYSIOTHERAPY?
Neurological physiotherapy is intended for those rehabilitating from central- or peripheral nervous system diseases or injuries. The aim of physiotherapy is to improve people’s functional and work capacity, and help them manage their day-to-day affairs. Rehabilitation is based on individual plans, developed by clients and care staff working together.
Neurological physiotherapy is one of our strengths. We utilise knowledge, based on the latest studies, of many different diseases and injuries and the newest rehabilitation techniques.
People seeking neurological physiotherapy treatment may have, for example,
- Stroke or other cerebrovascular disorder
- Brain- or spinal injuries
- MS disease or a muscle disease
- Parkinson’s disease
- Developmental disability, CP
HOW CAN I ACCESS THESE PHYSIOTHERAPY SERVICES?
Neurological rehabilitation services can be paid for by oneself, or with a voucher paid for by (for example) KELA, an insurance company, one’s employer, or one’s municipality of residence.
WHAT DOES PHYSIOTHERAPY INVOLVE?
Neurological physiotherapy always involves an initial mapping, on the basis of which an individual therapy plan and action plan are then created. The therapy often includes functional or movement exercises, muscle-movement or mobility exercise, sensory training, pain rehabilitation, and more. The methods used are selected based on the needs of the client undergoing rehabilitation.
We use our wide range of specialist competence to provide therapy that is suited to the client’s needs and delivers results. Close cooperation with those in the client’s immediate environment in his/her day-to-day life is also an essential part of our services.
WHERE, AND WHAT TOOLS ARE USED?
Neurological physiotherapy takes place at our facilities designed specifically for the purpose, and in the client’s day-to-day life. Our facilities are disabled-accessible and contain versatile, high-quality rehabilitation equipment suitable for everyone to use in exercises.
The technology-assisted clinic features versatile devices and tools specifically for neurological exercises. At the clinic, it is possible to do a wide range of exercises to practise hand functions, body-weight-support walking, and various functions related to movement, body control, balance and coordination. With our newest equipment, it is also possible to do perceptual- and memory-related exercises. The RecoveriX brain rehabilitation system has been developed specifically for rehabilitation of those suffering from a stroke or other cerebrovascular problem, and it can be used for both acute phase- and chronic phase rehabilitation.
